Rural rehabilitation is one of the most exciting and challenging service delivery areas for physicians, allied health professionals, and rural planners. This paper is meant to help rural rehabilitation practitioners and their clients understand the potentials, limitations and challenges of the Internet. People in rural areas often have the most to gain from “getting on-line” and joining the tens of millions of members of the global Internet community. People with disabilities in rural areas now have an extremely powerful and adaptable communication tool that can reduce isolation and provide access to a vast range of services and information.
