Andy McLennan is our graphic design and cartographic expert. Over more than 20 years, he has completed numerous projects, which applied cartographic, graphic and artistic principles to address issues common to the print/publication process.

Dr. Don Richardson

Don is the TeleCommons Development Group's Director. He is also a part-time professor in the School of Rural Extension Studies, Faculty of Environmental Design and Rural Development, at the Ontario Agricultural College, University of Guelph, Canada. He is the author of several publications dealing with agriculture and the Internet, and rural telecommunications and development. Don is widely known for his pioneering in the application of Internet for rural development throughout the world.

Galin Kora

Galin joined TDG in May 1998 after completing his M.Sc. in Rural Planning and Development at the University of Guelph. Galin's background is in management of rural development research and rural planning efforts. He is also an accomplished agronomist who has managed extensive agricultural projects on behalf of the European Union and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Albania. Galin's technical skills include GIS/GPS, database management, and web development. Most recently, Galin has been responsible for coordination of GIS/GPS data collection, mapping and targeting of network deployment for TDG's rural telecom work in Ghana and Peru. Galin is fluent in Albanian, English, French and Italian.

Helen Aitkin

Helen is TDG's VP of Operations, and a Rural Communication Specialist who has been involved in rural communication internationally since 1980. After working many years in educational radio for development, she now provides operation management for TDG's domestic and international projects. Her core expertise is the application of appropriate communication technology for development - whether radio, Internet, telephone or word of mouth. Helen has experience working in Latin America, Africa, Canada and Europe.

John Cassidy is our network and data specialist. John has 14 years experience designing and implementing LAN and WAN solutions. As a network manager specializing in daily operations for our parent company, ESG International, he has proven abilities in ensuring projects remain on schedule, that human and equipment resources are available, and the timely and effective delivery of appropriate solutions to the end-user. He has an excellent understanding Network design principles, methodologies and applications. Network design experience includes Drake International computer network (Novell), Sheridan College student network (Unix) and ESG International/TeleCommons clients (Windows and Novell based products). GIS project experience includes ARC/INFO mapping and data files for ESG's Abitibi FEC mapping project, ESG’s Coastal Zone Management project in China (SPANS), and DND’s Manoeuvre Area Planning System (MAPS) using AutoCAD Map, MapInfo and Microstation.

Peter Somers

Peter Somers is an environmental specialist who provides us with expertise for the planning and implementation of environmental information systems and areas where rural energy systems interface with rural telecommunication initiatives. He is a Senior Environmental Planner with our parent company, ESG International. Peter has a great deal of experience working in rural areas of Canada, as well as countries such as Uganda, Malawi, and Jamaica.

Vito Masi is a specialist in the planning and implementation of infrastructure projects in rural areas. He has an excellent background in rural energy systems, and is experienced in the use of GIS for rural infrastructure planning.

Wendy Quarry

Wendy Quarry has over two decades of experience working in the Social Communication Sector. Her specialities include the design and implementation of communication strategies, communication skill capacity development, and multi-stakeholder communication processes. Wendy has also functioned as a team leader on a variety of projects for a wide variety of projects for CIDA, UNDP, UNICEF, the World Bank and FAO.

Ricardo Ramirez is a consultant and research associate of TeleCommons with over 15 years of experience in rural development and communication planning. His research is founded on significant practical experience in the application of communcation technologies with emphasis on community involvement in the planning of ICT interventions and impact assessemnt.
